Lottie’s Talent Village by YTL Foundation

In this season of goodwill and giving, YTL Foundation is organising its Christmas Bazaar-Lottie’s Talent Village at Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with 54C The YTL Learning Space – a learning space offering fun, creative and engaging after-school programmes to underprivileged students aged 7 to 18 years. The Christmas Bazaar - Lottie’s Talent Village features social enterprises focussed on skills training for underprivileged youths and will be open to the public from 10am till 10pm on 1 to 3 December 2017.
“Members of public can look forward to a fun and exciting weekend at Lottie’s Talent Village. The Christmas Bazaar offers an exciting range of workshops to fill your weekend, beyond just shopping for gifts and food. Whether you’re a grandparent or a child or somewhere in between, you’ll be sure to have a great time with us as you pick up new skills and try your hand at a wide range of crafts,” said Datin Kathleen Chew, Programme Director of YTL Foundation.
This weekend’s line-up kicks off with fun performances at the opening ceremony by the Dignity for Children Foundation, a fashion show by Recyclothes and a 15-minute play by the KL Performing Arts Centre. Learn batik painting from The Batik Boutique, an award-winning social enterprise created to disrupt the cycle of poverty in Malaysia, which has trained women from low-income backgrounds to produce arts and fashion items from batik. Pick up balloon modelling skills from Supa Dupa Circus or learn how to draw in your coffee and make beads from the MySkills Foundation. If you’re into gardening, let the Free Tree Society teach you plant propagation, composting and micro-gardening while you also learn to make a self-watering planter and a handcrafted bangle from the Viva StarFish Project.
Want to do more with your hands? Make a table lamp or a mobile phone stand guided by Brain Bridge for Woodwork or paint a wooden doorknob hanger and decorate with polymer clay on glass with Craft Haven. Gain new skills in decoupage and make handy items like a cookie jar cover, mobile phone pouch, multi-purpose holder, memo tag, fridge magnet, stone art, resin necklace, wooden coaster or bookmark. Or you can just get your hands decorated with henna art or folk art by the BMIC Nail Spa Salon. Sign up now! The workshops and activities range from free to RM60 including all craft materials.
New social enterprise Flow will be selling their beautiful bouquets of recycled flowers, with all proceeds from their sales going to Toy Libraries Malaysia, an NGO that sets up toy libraries for children in at-risk communities who have no access to toys and play. There will also be a designated box at the event for members of the public to donate used toys to be channelled to Toy Libraries Malaysia.
Pledge for a good cause this Christmas, and stand a chance of receiving one of 700 teddy bears which will be given out by the YTL Foundation this weekend. Ride over with Grab and enjoy RM8 off two rides to Lottie’s Talent Village at Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur just by keying in the promo code LOTTIE10.
