A Pink October Charity Campaign by Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara With BCWA

Pink October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As Pink October rolls around, we are once again reminded of the fight against breast cancer faced by millions and the importance of regular screenings and early detection.
This year, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is honoured to collaborate once again with the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) by helping raise funds for their noble awareness and education campaigns on breast cancer.
From 1st to 31st October 2022, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara's Pink October Afternoon Tea priced at RM158 per set with a choice of Illy coffee or Dilmah tea will be served daily from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A contribution of RM10 from each order placed will go directly to BCWA. The proceeds will support BCWA in their commendable efforts in executing awareness campaigns for breast cancer.

Healthcare Partners Collaborate to Broaden Access to Lung Cancer Diagnosis with Artificial Intelligence Technology

Leading healthcare partners, Lung Cancer Network Malaysia (LCNM), AstraZeneca and Qualitas Medical Group have partnered again, this time with three leading tertiary private cancer facilities; Beacon Hospital, Subang Jaya Medical Centre and Sunway Medical Centre to provide free lung cancer screening to Malaysians. This partnership will further broaden the public’s access to receive cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) screening technology (Qure.ai) at primary care clinics and subsequently, be further investigated with a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scan at the three partner tertiary care hospitals.
The free AI-lung cancer screening programme was kicked off by Dr. Anand Sachithanandan, Cardiothoracic Surgeon and President of LCNM alongside Dr. Sanjeev Panchal, Country President, AstraZeneca Malaysia based on the shared intention to close the gaps on early lung cancer detection.

Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Malaysian men1, where majority of these cases are detected late, giving lung cancer the worst survival of all major cancer types in this country2. Through the establishment of this programme, Malaysians - especially those who may potentially be in the high-risk category such as current or former heavy smokers - will be able to detect the early presence of cancer through use of advanced technologies before it is too late.

Detection of early-stage disease is vital as treatment and prognosis is very much stage-dependent. According to Dr. Anand, the poor prognosis amongst lung cancer patients is largely attributed to the fact that most patients often present with advanced disease as often there are no warning signs or symptoms in the early stages. With a multi-disciplinary and multi-modality therapy approach, lung cancer detected at an early stage carries a very good prognosis as it is amenable to curative treatment and more cost-effective to treat.

“Family history and air pollution are emerging significant risk factors for the rising trend of lung cancer in non-smokers. This collaboration utilising AI technology for cancer screening is the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia and will help address the unmet need of lung cancer detection in non-smokers,” said Dr Anand.

Located at No. 41 Jalan Radin Bagus, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, The Vee by Teochew Kitchen is just a few stores away from Eu Yan Sang retail store. Diners can park the car along the road or at the multi level parking which is not far away from the restaurant.
Once you walk into the restaurant, you will be greeted by cozy and clean interior. There is a gin bar which serve 66 types of gin and 1 Artic Blue Gin in The Vee by Teochew.
We have tried eight of their signature dishes, namely Fried Porridge, Signature Garlic Seared Black Promfret, Teochew Pineapple Prawns, Braised & Seared US Collar Ribs, Rice wine Choysum, Jou Jou Chicken, Salt Pepa Porky Skin, Kiamchye Croissant and Fresh Broiled Octopus with Superior Soy Sauce at The Vee by Teochew last week. Honestly speaking, they deserves a pat on the back for their Teochew fusion food with a unique twist.
