HEAVENSAKE Debuts in Malaysia with an Intimate Chic Soiree

In an understated yet exquisite setting at ENSO Izakaya & Bar within Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown, HEAVENSAKE made its Malaysia debut with quiet elegance. A handpicked guest list of media, sommerliers, and tastemakers gathered for an intimate, chic soiree that blended conversation, craft, and culture in perfect balance.

Hosted by K2 Marketing Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of HEAVENSAKE in Malaysia, the afternoon unfloded in the presence of Joshua Kalinan, HEAVENSAKE's Regional Ambassador for Southeast Asia and 2018 Sake Sommelier of the Year. All the guests were guided through refined journey through Franco-Japanese artistry, where sake meets the spirit of Champagne.

A Toast to Balance and Beauty

Co-created in 2017 by Swiss entrepreneur Carl Hirschmann and French cellar-master Régis Camus (famed in the Champagne world); HEAVENSAKE became the first Sake in the World conceived by renowned Champagne maker.

Designed for the modern Western palate & cuisine each HEAVENSAKE blend is all-natural: crafted with no added distilled alcohol, sugar, sulfites, gluten, or addictives, and remarkably three times less acidic than wine.

Camus, an eight-time Winemaker of the Year, applied the assemblage technique (a method used to blend fine Champagnes) to the centuries-old art of sake-making. The result is sake reimagined: pure, modern, and efforlessly refined.

"HEAVENSAKE is more than a drink. It's an emotion, it captures harmony, precision, and purity, expressed in the language of both Japan and France," Kalinan shared during the tasting.

A Journey Through Taste and Terroir

The soiree unfolded as a journey through taste and terroir, where guests were guided through HEAVENSAKE's four distinctive expression, each a poetic meeting of French precision and Japanese mastery.

How to Look Younger Than Your Age - Dr. Sheva Erage Gel

Many of you asked me, how to look younger than my age? In fact, do you know that after the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each passing year. Skin becomes weaker and and wrinkled as fibroblasts produce less collagen and elastin. That's the time when aging started and it's important to replenish skin's collagen to maintain a youthful appearance. It's never too early to start young for this.
I have recently discovered Dr. Sheva’s Erage gel that restores youth to our skin, from both inside and out via transdermal absorption and stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin from within.
Since many of you are new to Dr. Sheva brand, let me tell you more about it. Dr. Sheva is born in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan, which is a renowned fishing township and home to Dr. Sheva's laboratories.
As we know, Japan is one of the world’s largest consumer of tuna fish. In line with sustainable fishing and farming efforts globally, Dr. Sheva's laboratory sought ways to reduce aquaculture waste, especially of such a precious natural resource. Then, they discovered a secret to this nutritious treasure of the sea - its scales are especially rich in collagen!

Shop Preloved Goods From Japan at Jalan Jalan Japan @ M3 Mall

I am a Jalan Jalan Japan supporter since it's first opened in November 2016 at One City Sky Park, USJ. As a avid environmentalist, I support buying preloved goods. As recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. So, rather than throwing things away, why not buy the unwanted items at very special price.
Jalan Jalan Japan sourced their preloved goods from Bookoff Corporation Japan. Hence the preloved items from Japan are usually very new and in good condition.
However, their outlets at One City, 1 Shamelin and CenterPoint, Seremban are quite far for me. Hence, when I know that Jalan Jalan Japan is going to open their number four outlet at M3 Mall, Gombak, I literally jump over joy. Yay, Jalan Jalan Japan has an outlet near my place finally!
When they invited us bloggers to pay a special visit last Saturday, I did not hesitate and RSVP myself to the special guest shopper party. We reached there early on that Saturday morning. We have met many other exciting bloggers and friends of Jalan Jalan Japan. Some of them even came all the way from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Kajang and other places.

New Matcha Sakura Tea Series Inspired by the Matcha Traditions of Japan @ The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®

In recent years, as society progresses and our stress levels increase, more and more people are looking to cultural traditions to enhance their lives. From yoga and meditation to ancient superfoods, many practices from Asia’s oldest cultures are seeing a revival as people strive to embrace a life that is more balanced and holistic. As a result, it’s no longer unusual to find age-old beverages such as Japanese green tea on shelves and in eateries, and greater interest in experiencing the serenity of tea appreciation ceremonies.

Though it’s been around for a long time, many aren’t aware that green tea retains its beautiful colour because it’s unfermented and thus retains more of its nutritional benefits. It may also be revelation to some that Japanese green tea comes in different forms, with the most common being sencha and matcha; sencha is brewed as whole leaves while matcha is ground into a powder and mixed with water, resulting in a creamier flavour.
The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf® (CB&TL) builds on this revival of cultural flavours with its latest beverage series Matcha Sakura, using ceremonial-grade matcha harvested with first-flush Tencha and stone-milled to preserve its superior quality, says David de Candia, Tea Master for CB&TL. These premium green tea leaves are sourced directly from a small-scale family farm in Shizuoka, Japan that has been around since 1923, in order to keep the traditional harvesting methods alive while the small batches ensure the quality of leaves. The tea leaves for this grade of matcha are shade-grown for almost 30 days, resulting in the vibrant green in colour, before being hand-plucked so that the leaves are not bruised. The leaves are then steamed and deveined, before being ground slowly to powder-like consistency in a granite mill over many hours.
To further enhance its flavour and to bring a new experience to tea drinkers, the matcha is then blended with a Japanese sakura syrup, made from the delicate flowers that bloom in spring, to create two Matcha Sakura beverages: Matcha Sakura Ice Blended® drink (RM17.50/S and RM18.50/R), topped with sakura whipped cream and drizzled with sakura blossom syrup, and Matcha Sakura as a hot or iced latte (RM15.50/S and RM16.50/R respectively).

[Food] Ishin Japanese Restaurant @ Old Klang Road

More than nine years after it first opened, Ishin Japanese Restaurant remains one of the city’s best restaurant serving genuine Japanese and Kaiseki style cuisines. We were happy to have visited the restaurant to indulge the above-average meal once again.

Situated within the metropolitan area of Kuala Lumpur, Ishin is a fine dining Japanese restaurant where diners would experience a warm and cozy ambience as Ishin's interior design and lighting will set the mood right to get you started on an exquisite Japanese culinary journey.
Diners could choose to sit at the Ishin's oval sushi counter, which is also one of Malaysia's biggest counters that gives you first-hand experience to witness the chefs' meal preparations and it also encourages face-to-face interaction with the chefs; or Private rooms and Tatami seating that give you flexibility to host private events and corporate functions in a comfortable setting.

Let us share with you what have we tasted at a fantastic dinner at Ishin Japanese Restaurant recently.

Tatami Iwashi (RM22)
Tatami Iwashi is a savory appetizer which we recommend to pair with beer. Plenty of dried baby sardines which have been entwined in a single layer to form mar-like sheet and fried to perfect. Tatami Iwashi not only smells good, it is crispy, and delicious too.

Miyazaki Stone (RM 250)
The most premium and best wagyu beef steak from Miyazaki, Japan. Grill till perfect using the special stone in front of us.

Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant @ Old Klang Road KL

Ted on the ground floor of Avantas Residences Old Klang Road KL, Kimi-Ya is a Japanese restaurant that brings an authentic Japanese menu with reasonable price. I have heard a lot of good things about Kimi-Ya.
Being a great fans of Japanese food, we were excited to visit it for the first time not long ago. Kimi-Ya has a cozy environment including two private rooms which are perfect for authentic Japanese dining. Kimi-Ya has plenty of choices on their vast menu, from starter to main, desserts and beverages. Diners would be spoilt for the choices.
We had picked a few signature dishes below on our visit.

1. Tenzaru Inaniwa Udon
- Cold Thin Wheat Noodles with Assorted Tempura and Dipping Sauce.
An interesting Cold Thin Wheat Noodles with 3 different kinds of taste. Diners can either dip the cold noodles directly into the homemade dipping sauce for an unadulterated flavour, or pick up some wasabi, dip in the dipping sauce, and slurp the noodles up, or rather mix the sauce with the quail egg and spring onions for a sweeter, creamier touch. We like the uniqueness of the serving plus the smooth and refreshing taste of this noodle. Pair with our favourite fried assorted tempura, we would love to have this again and again.

2. Gyu Garlic Rice Ishiyaki
