BIG CARING Group Strengthens Sensitive Skin Management Expertise with 625 Pharmacists Certified as Atopic Eczema Counsellors, Sets Malaysia Book of Records

Malaysia’s leading retail pharmacy chain BIG CARING Group has strengthened its pharmacists’ capabilities in atopic eczema, with 625 pharmacists across BIG Pharmacy, CARiNG Pharmacy, Georgetown Pharmacy, Wellings Pharmacy and Ting Pharmacy certified as Atopic Eczema Counsellors. The achievement has been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the “Most Pharmacists Certified as Atopic Eczema Counsellors”.

The move comes as eczema continues to affect Malaysians, particularly children. According to the Dermatological Society of Malaysia, more than 20 per cent of Malaysian children are affected by eczema1, also known as atopic dermatitis. Beyond the visible symptoms, flare-ups can cause intense itching, pain and constant discomfort, while affecting quality of life, disrupting work or schooling and taking a toll on emotional and mental wellbeing. For some, eczema can become a lifelong challenge.

Chong Yeow Siang, Chief Operating Officer of BIG CARING Group

Chong Yeow Siang, Chief Operating Officer of BIG CARING Group said, “We know that living with eczema or sensitive skin can come with many considerations, from knowing what products to use and what to avoid, to understanding when a condition can be managed with self-care and when professional advice may be needed. That is why our pharmacists are such an important part of this journey. We want to play a leading role in sensitive skin management, while making trusted advice and support easier for Malaysians to access through their community pharmacies.”

“We launched CARiNG Pharmacy’s Bye Bye Sensitive Skin initiative in April last year to make sensitive skin and eczema care education and support more accessible to Malaysians. Since then, we have seen nearly 20% growth in sales of sensitive skin and eczema-related products within a year. This shows us that this is an area that matters to our customers, and reinforces the importance of continuing to invest in education, pharmacist capability and accessible support,” added Chong.

The certified pharmacists underwent specialised training developed with Persatuan Ekzema Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS), strengthening their understanding of atopic eczema and their ability to support customers seeking guidance on eczema and sensitive skin care.

CARiNG Pharmacy’s Glow the Extra Mile builds on its Bye Bye Sensitive Skin initiative, bringing its work in sensitive skin care education and eczema awareness to consumers through a six-day health and beauty roadshow from 29 September to 4 October 2026 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Ground Floor Centre Court, Old Wing.
