Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa Showcases its “RE.DEFINED” Ballroom and Event Spaces

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa held a showcase event themed “Re.Defined” which saw its corporate guests and members of the media invited to rediscover its redesigned and refreshed spaces by showcasing the hotel’s event opportunities through its new technology upgrades and different event set-ups with customisable needs for endless possibilities to elevate events to an unparalleled experience. The 4-month closure which facilitated a RM54 million major refurbishment work, including enhanced facilities and new technology integration to its Grand Ballroom, meeting and functions rooms spread across three (3) levels as well as all the pre-function areas, reopened in November 2018.

During the event, Mr Roger Marcz, Cluster General Manager of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa said in his welcome speech that the fast changing landscape and today’s on-demand clients are re-shaping the way meetings and events are designed, thus Re.Defined focuses on user experience to future-proof the hotel’s products, services and offerings. “Since its opening in 1996, the Hotel has played host to many local and international events and we continue to elevate these events experiences to stay relevant to the fast changing consumer tastes and needs. Re.Defined brings a refreshed approach to Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa’s events and meetings programmes, which are immersive, responsive and customised to exceed needs; with endless possibilities to push the boundaries of one’s imagination to elevate events to the next level”.

A social humanoid robot – Sunny, was present during the showcase to interact with guests, providing information and guide about the new spaces. Sunny was able to recognise faces and basic human emotions, and engaged with people through conversation and his touch screen. To further elevate events in an innovative way, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is able to provide this new feature for its clients and event organisers (applicable charges will apply).

The highlight during the launch of the new Grand Ballroom at the Re.Defined showcase event was the surround sound and visual experience using the built-in high definition LED screen backdrop, alongside four (4) additional LED screens located on the front and side walls off the ballroom that shows panorama format for an immersive effect. Laser light show with high-powered sound system was also showcased, demonstrating its ability as a venue for events of all kinds and not just a function hall.

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa welcomes the Year of Boar with a magnificent array of set menus, dinner buffet and take home goodies from 21 Jan to 19 Feb 2019. Theme as “Winds of Prosperity”, the festive offers would bring a joyous reunion for your family and friends.

During the festive celebration period, the hotel's main street of Persiaran Lagoon will be festooned with red lanterns and gold fairy lights allowing all to soak in the Lunar New Year atmosphere in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur. Ramadan is the time to meet and feast together at dawn with scrumptious spread of cuisines and local delights. This Ramadan, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa celebrates a vibrant mixture of flavours and aromas at The Resort Café, featuring indoor and outdoor bazaar-style stations with live-action cooking from the chefs, reminiscing the classic bustling atmosphere of the Ramadan bazaar found around Malaysia during the festive period. Diners are in for a culinary treat with a multitude of nostalgic and new mouth-watering recipes to entice and revitalise the palate, alongside the many must-have recurrent dishes, served on the nightly buffet dinner at 6.00pm to 10.30pm from 17 May to 14 June 2018 at The Resort Café, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Leading the brigade of over 40 chefs for the season is Malaysian Chef Mohamad Yatim, Sous Chef Tournant of The Resort Café. Chef Yatim who has over 20 years of experience working in local and international hotels, will be cooking up a storm of over 400 timeless dishes for 29 delicious days. Diners can anticipate an energetic ambience with enticing aromas filling the air as the restaurant is transformed into a vibrant Bazaar-style atmosphere for a true feast of the senses.

Taking centre stage are nine (9) main food categories which are the Nasi Station featuring 15 varieties of rice cooked in different styles including a must-try for the season – Bamboo Briyani, the Bakar Station where fresh meat and seafood will be grilled on the spot for diners, the Soup Station including the restaurant’s signature Soup Gearbox Turbo, the Golek Station featuring a whole Roasted Goat, the Noodle Station serving a wide variety of soup and gravy based noodles, the Kawah Station where super-large cauldrons containing rich and spicy Gulai awaits, the Ulam-Ulaman Station offering an assortment of over 20 local picks as well as pickled fruits (jeruk) which can be enjoyed with the wide selection of Sambals, the Goreng Station will have fried Malaysian and Middle Eastern snacks and lastly, the Dessert Station which will feature a wide range of Durian specialities as well as traditional favourites.

The buffet is priced at a special promotional price at RM98 nett per adult from 17 until 23 May and 11 June to 14 June 2018; whereas the buffet is priced at its normal price at RM178 nett per adult, RM108 nett per senior citizen and RM98 nett per child (aged between 6 to 12 years old) from 24 May to 10 June 2018.

This Christmas and New Year, the culinary team, led by the Hotel’s Executive Chef Peter Lee are all geared up to entice diners with their extensive menu of delicious and sumptuous dishes to indulge in.

Up on the show-stopping centrepiece this year are the three (3) types of Roasted Turkey, featuring the traditional Roasted Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing, complemented by the Cranberry Sauce and Roasted Garlic Black Pepper Sauce, the bold and flavourful Smoked Turkey served with Red Chilli Sauce and the not-to-be-missed Chef’s special – Roasted Turkey marinated with Black Garlic and Organic Bamboo Salt, resulting in a sweet and tangy garlic undertone meat, served with Green Chili Sauce. Also to look forward to are the variety of home-made Pies with a selection of sumptuous Chicken, Beef or Seafood filling and on the dessert bar, the traditional Mincemeat Pie filled with a mixture of dried Fruits and Spices.
