California Wines celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris and its Golden State of Mind

California Wine Institute (CWI) is delighted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Judgment of Paris - the tasting that changed wine forever in tis year. To honor the 50-year legacy and to celebrate California wines, CWI will hosts a series of events that will take place in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Macau.

In 1976, British wine merchant Steven Spurrier organized a blind tasting in Paris with results that shocked the wine establishment: California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon outscored highly regarded French wines, proving that excellence comes not only from heritage but from bold vision and open minds. The results astonished the wine world as California wines triumphed, establishing California as a world-class wine producing region. The spirit of the historic event continues to define and shape modern day California - pioneering, innovative, diverse, and bold, which is exemplary of California wines’ ‘Golden State of Mind’.

“2026 is a landmark year for California wines for us,” says Christopher Beros, CWI Director for Greater China & Southeast Asia. "The 50th anniversary of the Judgment of Paris isn't just about celebrating a historic victory—it's about showcasing how California has continued to lead the world in quality, innovation, and sustainability. The values and spirits that shaped the Judgment of Paris and define California wines continue to drive California winemakers today, from pioneering new winemaking techniques to being at the forefront of sustainability efforts.”

Christopher Beros, CWI Director for Greater China & Southeast Asia

The Kuala Lumpur event was held at the Pool House @ Grand Hyatt in Kuala Lumpur on June 19, 2026, with over 60 honorable trade and media guests attended. The celebratory event featured a special screening of a short documentary on the Judgment of Paris, and showcased wines from wineries that participated in the Judgment of Paris 50 years ago. Generali Malaysia Launches New Protection Plan for Underserved Families

Generali Malaysia, in collaboration with Amanah Raya Berhad (“AmanahRaya”), Malaysia’s Only Public Trustee, have launched Gen Sinar, an affordable personal accident insurance plan tailored to empower underserved families with financial protection. The plan aims to ensure continuity of children’s education in the event of accidental death and permanent disability of the breadwinner.

Organised by Generali Malaysia, the launch event was held at Kompleks Komuniti Muhibbah, and attended by AmanahRaya, representative from the Embassy of Italy in Malaysia, PIAM, UNDP partners, non-governmental organisations, community leaders, members of the media and local residents on 18 Jun 2026.

Left - Jack Yap Ngee Heong, Acting Group Managing Director and Group Chief Business & Operating Officer of Amanah Raya Berhad.
Right - Fabrice Benard, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad.

Gen Sinar
was designed in response to insights gathered from underserved communities, who are deeply committed to seeing their children excel in education and achieve a brighter future. While meeting daily essential needs remains their immediate priority, many households, particularly those relying on a single breadwinner’s income, also carry concerns about long-term security and the potential impact of unforeseen circumstances affecting their livelihoods.

Across Malaysia, many underserved households remain significantly under protected, with limited access to adequate financial protection. This critical protection gap leaves families highly vulnerable to financial shocks that can disrupt children’s education and perpetuate cycles of hardship. Recognising these challenges, Gen Sinar helps to bridge this gap by safeguarding education continuity and building greater resilience for the future.

“Gen Sinar is more than just an insurance plan, it is a purpose-driven social protection initiative built on a non-profit model. We share the aspiration of the community and believe that education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. By making protection accessible to underserved families, we aim to ensure that children can continue their education even in the most difficult circumstances.” said Fabrice Benard, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad.

SURIA KLCC x LEGO® "Play Run 2026" Culminates in Spectacular Finale

The iconic KLCC precinct was filled with vibrant energy and creative excitement over the weekend as the highly anticipated Suria KLCC x LEGO® “Play Run 2026” made its historic Southeast Asian debut on Saturday, 6 June 2026. Drawing thousands of families, fitness enthusiasts, and LEGO® builders of all ages, the active 2km experiential run served as the high-octane grand finale to the multi-week LEGO® MY Play Festival takeover, which successfully transformed Suria KLCC and KLCC Park into Malaysia's largest-ever real-world
LEGO® celebration from 21 May to 7 June 2026.

Organised as a central pillar of Suria KLCC’s signature annual mental and physical well-being initiative, the "Play Run 2026" perfectly blended physical fitness, real-world connection,
and interactive storytelling. Participants traversed a custom-designed 2km route around the
scenic KLCC Park, navigating a series of obstacles and physical "play-stops" designed to stimulate collaboration and cognitive development away from digital screens. Runners were flagged off in dedicated sessions across the day, concluding their experience by collecting exclusive LEGO® themed runner kits and a one-of-a-kind, interlocking block-inspired Finisher Medal.

Crowning the evening, the entire celebration culminated in a breathtaking architectural
spectacle as the exterior facade of the iconic Suria KLCC shopping vessel was illuminated by a custom-curated LEGO® 3D Projection Mapping showcase. The grand visual finale, displayed between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on 6 and 7 June, depicted larger-than-life LEGO® brick-building animations that celebrated both global play culture and rich Malaysian heritage symbols, drawing thousands of onlookers to the Esplanade.

Beyond the high-energy physical run, a core hallmark of this year's festival was its deep corporate social responsibility (CSR) alignment with community mental health. Anchored adjacent to the outdoor active zones, Suria KLCC brought back its signature "Safe Space". From 25 May to 7 June, the dedicated mental health sanctuary hosted an array of educational workshops, experiential therapeutic activities, and psychological support activations in direct partnership with the Mental Illness Awareness & Support Association (MIASA), the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA), NYAWA, The Befrienders KL, IHH Healthcare, and Petrosains.

LISTERINE®—Malaysia’s No. 1 mouthwash brand—in partnership with Watsons Malaysia, officially launched the ‘Pencuci Mulut’ Campaign in May 2026. This cultural wake-up call reimagines oral care through the lens of a national passion: food. Just as a meal feels unfinished without a sweet ending, the campaign posits that an oral care routine is fundamentally incomplete without a final rinse.

While Malaysians are meticulous brushers, clinical data reveals a startling "Invisible Gap" in local hygiene. Brushing, which remains the essential first step, only reaches the surfaces of the teeth—which account for a mere 25% of the mouth. The remaining 75%, including the tongue, inner cheeks, and gumline, often remains a sanctuary for bacteria to thrive.

“Most of us grew up hearing one message: brush your teeth — and that’s it. In Malaysia, that’s just the normal habit,” explained Dr. Kayla, a prominent dental expert, during the campaign
launch. “But clinically, brushing is only the first act. To address the remaining 75% of the oral
cavity where biofilm and bacteria reside, we must follow a complete sequence: Brush, Floss, and Rinse. By finishing with LISTERINE®, you aren't just freshening breath; you are utilising essential oils to achieve 5x more plaque reduction than brushing alone, ensuring the routine is truly finished.”

Also commenting at the launch, Ulrike Zillner, General Manager for Malaysia and Singapore at
Kenvue said, “We’ve observed a fascinating paradox: Malaysians are incredibly detail-oriented
about their grooming and their food, yet we’ve accepted a ‘half-brushed’ reality for generations. This isn’t about adding a chore; it’s about restoring the standard of what ‘clean’ actually means.
