Food Review: Secret of Louisiana | US Potato Culinary Festival KL 15

US Potato Culinary Festival Kuala Lumpur 2015 was launched last month, you could read more on the festival at my previous blogpost.

Last week, I was glad to be invited to another round of US Potato food tasting at Secret of Louisiana, Plaza Kelana Jaya. It was my first time visited Plaza Kelana Jaya, and I’m glad that I managed to catch the beautiful sunset before our food tasting. 
Since It was a windy evening, hence sitting outdoor besides the lake was a great experience.
Secret of Louisiana serves real Cajun cuisine, which is a style of cooking named for the French-speaking Acadian people deported by the British from Acadia in Canada to the Acadiana region of Louisiana, US. It is authentic Cajun cuisine as according to the Master Chef Elvin who was lived in the USA for many years.
Chef Elvin has prepared a few dishes for us to try that night;

US Potato dishes:

US Potato Crawfish Pie
Crawfish is a must have when you are at Secret of Louisiana, and in fact, you’d see Crawfish in almost every Cajun cuisine. The live Crawfish was so fresh and it served in US Potato Pie which is simply a perfect match.
Cajun US Fries Chili Octopus
Fried chili octopus and French fries topped with sourly sauce. This made a good combination and it is especially great with a pint of beer. This is one of our favourite dishes that evening.
Shrimp Etouffee US Potato Boat
The big Shrimps serves with baked potato, this dish would definitely savor those who love potatoes.
Other signature dishes from Secret of Louisiana:

Spaghethi Chili Smoked Duck
Spaghethi is the signature dish in Secret of Louisiana as they serves Spaghethi buffet from Monday to Saturday during lunch time. Spaghethi Chili Smoked Duck is one of their new flavours, seasoning with olive oil and chilli flakes, the Smoked duck is just nice to compliment the Spaghethi.

Louisiana's seafood Gumbo
Gumbo is a Signature food in Cajun cuisine. The gumbo was made with a lot of seafood, it was a nice dish.

Blackened Red Fish with Cajun Vegetables
Just like Craw Fish, Red fish is another main seafood used in Cajun cuisine, while blackened is another signature cooking style of Cajun cuisine. The red fish taste fresh and special.

Hickory Bar-Bue-Cue Chicken Chop
This dish is great for people who like BBQ flavours. Even though I’m not a fans of BBQ flavours, the chicken chop is acceptable for me. Guess I’d bring my hubby to try this dish in future as he is a supporter  of BBQ flavours.

Louisiana's Mud Pie
Again, I’m not into mud pie because I found it too sweet. Surprisingly, Louisiana’s mud pie was not too sweet and it was the only dessert available there.
Secret of Louisiana is a Pork Free restaurant. Overall, we like that everything was freshly prepared, although it took a while for us to get our food. Its nice ambiance is recommended for special occasions as it is surrounded by a lake. It is recommended to call and make a reservation before you visit them due to the place is popular for events and weddings. So, call to avoid disappointment ya.
