The Business Zakat is a religious obligation to donate a certain portion of wealth of a business each year to charitable causes. This year, McDonald’s Malaysia has contributed the highest amount of Business Zakat to Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) since the organisation started paying their Business Zakat 6 years ago, since the company was taken over by Lionhorn Pte. The RM600,000 of Business Zakat was presented on 28 March 2022, along with Zakat charity in the form of RM500 cash and vouchers to 50 selected families who were severely affected by the flood recently.
McDonald’s Malaysia held an event in conjunction with the presentation of Business Zakat at McDonald’s Banting DT outlet on 28 March 2022. It was attended by YBhg. It will greatly help those in need, especially those who are affected by the current economic situation.”

McDonald’s Malaysia was taken over by Lionhorn Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary under Reza Group based in Saudi Arabia on 1 December 2016. With this acquisition, the company is now owned by shareholders and investors the majority of whom are Muslims.
