Mark December 10th in your calendars as that will be the day Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 will be crowned in a gala finale event to be held at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor.
The night’s programme is expected to feature a programme and entertainment lineup that’s set to make the night’s event nothing short of exciting.
Amongst acts confirmed to perform in the night’s programme is famed actor and comedian Douglas Lim and singer-songwriter Mizz Nina, with a string of internationally acclaimed hits under her belt including “What You Waiting For” and “Take Over” featuring rapper Flo Rida. The night’s programme will also feature an international act all the way from the Philippines – Primo - an all male Filipino vocal trio featuring Jon Joven, Floyd Tena, and James Uy.
The evening’s programme, expected to be attended by a number of high-profile guests and the who’s who in the Malaysian and regional entertainment industry, will be hosted by actor, host and writer Will Quah, as well as actress and TV personality Julie Woon.
According to Andrea Fonseka, director of the Miss Universe Malaysia Organization, “The organizers have gone to lengths to ensure that the gala night for this year is nothing short of spectacular. It is going to be a memorable night indeed, not only for the finalists but for all who attend.”
Organizers of the pageant have announced that that the event will not be aired live on television. However, members of the public will be able to attend the gala finale event, and root for their favourite finalists.
Leading up to the gala finale, the 17 finalists for the pageant will vie for the title of Miss Universe Malaysia in a reality TV series entitled The Next Miss Universe Malaysia. Last Sunday, Malaysians got to know the finalists a little bit more with the airing of the first episode. The remaining episodes will air every Sunday at 10.30pm on 8TV, bringing with them the drama, thrill, joy and tears of the finalists, leading up to the gala finale.
Viewers will get to follow the finalists’ pursuit for the tiara through the show, which will culminate in the gala finale, where the remaining finalists who survived elimination rounds in the reality series will compete for the Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 title.
Two finalists who were eliminated during the reality series will also have their chance to get back into the competition during the gala night – one selected by the judges of the reality series, and one more selected via public sms votes.
