Classical Concert Featuring Italian Soloist, Domenico Nordio @ Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya

It is with pleasure that the Embassy of Italy announces its collaboration with Istana Budaya, and the resulting joint organization of the Classical concert featuring Italian soloist Domenico Nordio, scheduled to take place in the evening of Saturday, the 11 of March 2023.

The strengthening and further consolidation of the already excellent relations between Italy and Malaysia in all areas, including the cultural sphere, has always been the main focus of the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur.

The Embassy's efforts in creating bridges between our people, as well as opportunities for the Malaysian public to be exposed to Italy’s rich cultural heritage in their own country, and for Italian artists to grow from the experience of performing alongside their Malaysian counterparts, have indeed been greatly rewarded through this collaboration.
“It is only through mutual exchange that people can truly learn from one another and attain greater growth, and I am most pleased that world-famous Italian violinist Domenico Nordio will be performing in Malaysia, at Istana Budaya, on the joyous occasion of the 30'* anniversary of the National Symphony Orchestra, which will be performing at the concert alongside Maestro Nordio”, added H.E. Massimo Rustico, Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia.
Ambassador Rustico expressed the Embassy’s profound gratitude to Istana Budaya for hosting this programme, and for having the NS0, under the expert direction of conductor Nasran Nawi, perform several pieces by some of the many composers Italy is famous for!

Domenico Nordio, born in Venice in 1971 and child prodigy (he gave his first recital at age of ten), won the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli at the age of sixteen with the legendary Yehudi Menuhin as President of the Jury. The Eurovision Grand Prix he obtained the following year launched him in international career, making him one of the great violinists of his generation.

He has performed in most of the world's prestigious halls (Carnegie Hall in New Y or k, Salle Pleyel in Paris, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Barbican Center in London and Suntory Hall in Tokyo), with leading orchestras and with famous conductors such as Flor, Steinberg, Casadesus, Luisi, Lazarev, Aykal.

lt is our hope that the concert will be enjoyed by many of Malaysia’s music enthusiasts and we look forward to more opportunities to bring Italian artists to the country.
