AmBank Unites Malaysians, Champions Planet and Purpose Through Pickleball Championship

In a heartfelt celebration of community, youth and purpose-driven sport, the AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025 wrapped up on Sunday, 1 June at Pickle Nation, Shah Alam. It marked a milestone event for the Malaysian pickleball community, setting a new benchmark for what a championship can truly stand for.

Conceptualised and delivered by Score Sports Management in partnership with AmBank Group, and officially recognized by DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating), the three-day tournament welcomed 547 players from all walks of life, some of whom hailed from countries such as Indonesia, China and the USA.

A Championship with A Purpose

The AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025 is more than a tournament. Themed “Malaysia Kita”, the event was graced by the attendance of YBhg. Ts. Dr. Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, underscoring their support for grassroots development, youth empowerment, and sustainable sporting initiatives in Malaysia.

A dedicated Junior Coaching Session was conducted by several experienced pickleball coaches, drawing 75 enthusiastic youths, 35 of whom were sponsored by AmBank Group and Score Sports Management. The session introduced youths to the basics of the sport through fun drills, mini matches and interactive learning, nurturing confidence, sportsmanship, and connection among the next generation of Malaysian talent.

In an effort to drive collective impact, all event materials - from the trophy design to digital guides - were thoughtfully curated with an ESG mindset. In addition to a commitment to reducing single-use plastics through refillable water stations and the use of sustainable materials, 60 kilograms worth of old sneakers were collected, helping minimise landfill waste. These old sneakers will be recycled and repurposed into community-centric infrastructure such as running tracks, playgrounds, and court surfaces, benefiting parks and communities across Malaysia.

The championship was also amplified by a nationwide social media campaign called the “AmBank 50th Pickleball Relay Challenge”, where Malaysians passed the pickleball virtually, showcasing their support and love for the sport.

“I’m incredibly pleased with the success of the AmBank Malaysia Pickleball Championship 2025. It’s heartening to see not only the strong participation from Malaysians, but also players from overseas — including China, Indonesia, Vietnam and even as far as the USA. The turnout, the energy, and the sportsmanship on display were simply outstanding. We’re proud to add the Malaysia Pickleball Championship to our flagship events, and with the continued support of the community, we look forward to growing it even further. This event also marks a fantastic partnership with AmBank, and we’re hopeful this collaboration will continue to flourish. Our heartfelt thanks to all sponsors and partners who made this meaningful event possible,” said Patricia Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Score Sports Management.

“This championship was a celebration of everything we believe in — health, inclusion, unity, and purpose. We are proud to present a tournament that not only energised communities but empowered positive choices on and off the court. Congratulations to all the winners and participants, and we hope that you continue to hone your talents as you continue on your pickleball journey, and see you again for the tournament next year,” added Shazman Shahid, Head of Group Corporate Communications & Marketing, AmBank Group.
