Available on 28 August, 4 September and 25 September 2026, the limited-edition dining experience is more than a buffet. It is a thoughtful celebration of the stories, traditions and flavours that have shaped Malaysia's identity across generations.
At the heart of Warisan Malaysia is a collaboration between the hotel's culinary team and Jabatan Warisan Negara, bringing together two of Malaysia's greatest treasures, its food and its heritage. While more than eight chefs recreate recipes inspired by their mothers and family kitchens, guests can also explore an intimate showcase of handcrafted Malaysian artistry featuring handloom sarees, handwoven shawls, fabric jewellery, naturally dyed handblock textiles, handicrafts, traditional games and more.
Dr Farizawati binti Sabri, Director of the Conservation Department, Jabatan Warisan Negara, alongside Till Martin, General Manager of Midtown Brasserie, officially launched the event early August 2026.
"With Malaysia's National Day and Malaysia Day just around the corner, this is the perfect opportunity for Malaysians and visitors alike to come together and celebrate our nation's rich culinary heritage," says Till Martin. "Warisan Malaysia is especially meaningful as many of the dishes featured are inspired by our chefs' mothers' treasured recipes, passed down through generations. It is our way of preserving these authentic flavours while sharing them with our guests."
Dr Farizawati echoed the sentiment, describing the collaboration as "an excellent platform for both Malaysians and international visitors to experience the true essence of our nation through its authentic cuisine and rich cultural heritage." She added that the exhibition serves as an invitation for guests to discover more of Malaysia's cultural treasures through the Heritage Centre and the country's museums.
Executive Chef Jonas says the inspiration behind Warisan Malaysia comes from the diversity and passion of the hotel's culinary team. "We are fortunate to have a very diverse team of chefs, each bringing their own cultural background, experiences and family recipes into our kitchen," says Chef Jonas. "Warisan Malaysia is our way of showcasing the incredible talent within our team through dishes that are deeply personal to them."
Guided by this philosophy, each chef presents a signature dish inspired by family recipes and the traditions of their respective communities. Representing the flavours of Borneo are Chef Safee's Linopot and Chef Nurul Afizatul's Midin Belacan. The Peranakan kitchen offers comforting heirloom favourites, including Chef Ming's Itik Tim, Chef Chin Hern's Jiu Hu Char and Chef Ayub's Ayam PongTeh, while Indian heritage cuisine comes to life through Chef Firas' Vazhaipoo Poriyal. Completing the culinary journey are treasured Malay classics, with Chef Hanani's Rendang Pucuk Ubi and Chef Hasna's Kerutuk Ayam Dara, each reflecting cherished family recipes and traditions lovingly preserved through generations.
Beyond these signature creations, guests can look forward to an abundant buffet beginning with fresh ulam-ulaman, Kerabu Mangga, house-made pickles and an assortment of traditional sambals.
Interactive stations add a theatrical touch to the evening, from the fragrant Nyonya Curry Laksa and comforting Malaysian beef soup to the vibrant Nasi Kerabu, while the grill serves succulent beef steaks, lamb cutlets, chicken chops and freshly grilled satay. At the carving station, the aromatic Arabic Spiced Lamb Ouzi takes centre stage alongside freshly prepared Bergedil Ayam and Bergedil Daging.
The Malaysian Heritage Kitchen continues the feast with an impressive selection of regional favourites, including Nasi Kukus Beras Wangi, Chicken Dum Biryani, Lamb Dhalcha, Mixed Vegetable Jalfrezi and Fish Amritsari, among many other beloved classics. Together, the menu offers a delicious reflection of Malaysia's remarkable culinary diversity.
The finale is every bit as memorable. Executive Pastry Chef Jason De Orca presents an elegant dessert collection featuring 70% Dark Chocolate Cake, Pandan Coconut Cake, Passionfruit Cheesecake, Berries Tart, Lemon Meringue Tart, Choux à la Crème and Strawberry Shortcake. Traditional Malaysian sweets—including Kuih Bingka, Kuih Ubi Kayu, Pulut Inti and Pineapple Tarts—sit alongside warm indulgences such as the hotel's signature Caramel Pecan Tart, decadent Chocolate Fondant, freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookies, as well as a selection of artisanal gelato and refreshing sorbets.
To complete the celebration, a thoughtfully curated selection of heritage beverages provides a
refreshing finale. Guests can revisit the nostalgic flavours of Penang Ais Tingkap, the island's iconic street-side cooler; savour Ais Gula Apong, a Sarawak favourite combining palm sugar, fresh milk, grass jelly, sago and sweet corn; indulge in Jigarthanda, the beloved South Indian refreshment made with chilled milk, nannari syrup, almond gum and vanilla ice cream; or enjoy a classic Nyonya Cendol, layered with fragrant pandan cendol, creamy coconut milk and rich Melaka palm sugar. Each sip is a celebration of Malaysia's multicultural heritage, offering a refreshing conclusion to a feast that honours the country's remarkable flavours, traditions and warm hospitality.
