Neubodi Bra Drive Charity Launch

It was a splendid day for Neubodi to officially launch their Neubodi Bra Drive charity campaign at Talent Lounge not long ago. Neubodi Production crew managed to transform the contemporary setup into a beautiful, vibrant yet inviting enviroment with bright lady colours such as pink and purple floating balloons, charming white chairs with fancy balloon ties and pink cardboards with women empowerment quotes placed everywhere to create a comforting and carefree atmosphere.
This year, Neubodi partnered with the support of other prominent brand sponsors; Believe Active X Lorna Jane, BodyTone and Thalissi for their yearly Bra Drive Charity campaign!

Neubodi’s emcees for the day, Linora Low and Yvonne Lee kick started the party with the arrival of the honoured guest; Ms Zaharah Aiyub, President of Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), MALAYSIA along with Neubodi’s Starlets --- Amber Chia, Lalitha Monisha, Aishah Sinclair, Lavin Seow, Mandy Chen, Davina Goh and Joanne Kam Po Po just to name a few.

“Neubodi started this campaign in year 2013, with the aim to bring smiles on the faces of the less fortunate women. In year 2013, we managed to collect 5,361 bras, which were subsequently donated over to Free The Girls organisation, which supported the victims of sex trafficking in Africa. Subsequently in year 2014, with all your generous support, we manage to collect a tremendous amount of 11,037 bras from the public. These bras were then further hand picked, laundered and shipped over personally by my team and me over to Kathmandu, Nepal on the 8th of November 2015.  This charity trail to Nepal then, was indeed an eye opener to me. We spent 6 days there, visiting 4 different villages. It touched my heart to see how a simple bra can relieve the Nepali women from continuous sores, pain and rashes that occur due to a lack of a bra for protection. This made me realise that at the end of the day, the number of certifications that we receive does not judge us, nor does our title or positions speak of us. At the end of the day, it is about the number of lives we have touched, and that ultimately is what defines us, as humans.”

After an informative introduction of Neubodi Bra Drive by Ms Anne Tan, a short infomercial video was played to further explain how our second-hand bras could make a difference in another woman’s life. This year, the entire second-hand bras donated will go towards supporting four organisations, based in three different countries --- Nepal, Cambodia and India. These organisations namely are MAITI NEPAL, FREE A GIRL, ASHA NEPAL and VILLAGE FOCUS. Bras are considered an extreme luxury in these countries. The underprivileged do not have the same access to bras as Malaysian women do. Hence, while these targeted organisation work hard to rehabilitate victims of domestic violence, slavery and sex trafficking, there’s a major problem of these women not having even the basics covered --- the comfort of warm clothes and bras to protect their dignity.

After watching the short clip from last year’s charity trail to Nepal for the second-hand bra donation, the audience were engaged with a heartfelt and empowering breast cancer monologue entitiled “A-breast Monologue” whereby the emcees reenacted the true stories of three very different breast cancer survivors and the audience were even more surprised when these amazing ladies took to stage!

The audience were then enlightened by “ME & MY BREASTS” performance by Ms Joanne Kam Po Po. She taught two men from the crowd about how it it feels to be a woman for a few minutes. She made them put on a bra filled with balloons, do a catwalk and making sure their “boobies” stayed in place! Joanne Kam did what she does best, by bringing the audience to non-stop laughter, teary eyed and face cramps through her version of the right breast support education with stand-up comedy!
RM1 of every purchase will be donated to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia, a non-profit organisation founded in 1986 by medical specialists who realised the need for peer support for women with breast cancer. Last year, Neubodi managed to collect RM 7,739.00 for BCWA. So this year, Neubodi aim to collect RM 10,000.00 for BCWA to launch new MURNI vans. 
The MURNI van is driven by a woman and carries 2 nurses. It is modified into a mini clinic as it carries equipment for early detection, a bed, chairs and an information area. This project is specifically set up to educate women in rural areas about breast cancer and how early detection saves lives. MURNI vans will bring the examinations to these women where they will be given free screenings and taught how to conduct their own breast self-examinations.

Last but not least, the event came to a closing end after Ms Anne Tan, Ms Wen Chiam and Pn Zaharah Aiyub officiated the Neubodi Bra Drive bin. The emcees thanked the wonderful line of sponsors, Talent Lounge for the venue, Believe Active x Lorna Jane, Thalissi, Bodytone for the goodies bag collaboration and last but not least, the official bra bin sponsor Traders Hotel, Bobbi’s Pole Studio and Bodytone whom without their support, Neubodi would not be confident enough to aim for 50,000 second-hand bras collection.
