[Treatment Review] Aveda™ Pramāsana™ Scalp Care

As I was passing by an Aveda™ saloon just now, I felt like wanted to go for another Pramāsana™ Scalp Care treatment again. I've tried Aveda™ Pramāsana™ Scalp Care Treatment at Hair Atelier MyTOWN Shopping Centre a couple of months ago, it was relaxing and is good for the scalp.
To achieve a beautiful hair, we must take care the scalp first. Pramāsana™ Collection from Aveda™ is adapting the Art and Science of Pure Flower and Plant Essences, which is composed of an Exfoliating Scalp Brush, Purifying Scalp Cleanser, and Protective Scalp Concentrate (as well as a Nourishing Scalp Masque, available as an in-salon treatment only), to help build the foundation to beautiful hair—namely, a clean, healthy scalp.
“Effective scalp cleansing can help normal skin cell turnover. Deep cleansing encourages a clean, healthy scalp,” says Dr. M. Julie Thornton, Ph.D., University of Bradford in the UK.

Inspired by Ayurveda, the ancient healing art of India, Pramāsana™ is a combination of the Sanskrit words, ‘Prama’ (foundation) and ‘Asana’ (position in yoga) and embodies the concept that a clean, healthy scalp helps position your hair for great beauty. “Your scalp is simply an extension of your facial skin,” says Justina Mejia-Montane, Vice President, Global Product Development at Aveda. “And just like your face, your scalp needs cleansing, balancing, and protection. Consider your scalp the soil from which your hair grows. Once you think of it that way, it shouldn’t be hard to understand why you might need to be giving it a little extra care.”
AWAKEN YOUR SCALP The Pramāsana™ collection includes:

1. EXFOLIATE with Pramāsana™ Exfoliating Scalp Brush (RM 129): To get the most out of the collection — which was designed for dry, oily, and normal scalps alike—start with the Exfoliating Scalp Brush, a flexible, looped bristle brush to be used in conjunction with dry brushing techniques to loosen impurities and build up prior to cleansing and increase micro-circulation to the scalp when used with massage.

Cream of Europe – The Dream Cream for Gourmands

Ho ho ho, Christmas and year end is nearly here, and it's the season to bake all the sweets! My family have a sweet tooth, we enjoy sweet treats from tarts to cakes, and Madeleine to ice cream. A rich and voluptuous cream is the essence of a great recipe, it is even more important in pastries for a velvety and rich taste. So, choosing the good cream is essential. I would choose The European cream as recommended by many pastry chefs.
In fact, the European cream used in pastries have a unique velvety taste, as well as a rich tradition and reputation, giving the pastry a dash of sophistication and quality. It is the incredibly versatile European Cream that adds the cherry on the cake to any recipe or meal. No wonder Europeans have the best pastry in the World.
We have visited Pastry Institure of St Honore last week to attend the Cream of Europe event held by the French Dairy Inter-Branch Organization (CNIEL) and financed with aid from the European Union. We were honoured to meet the co-owner and Managing Director of Pastry Institure of St Honore, Chef Federic Oger and learn a tips or two from him.
Chef Federic Oger has demonstrated the incredibly versatile and exquisite taste of European Cream through an array of pastries using different techniques in the art of cooking cream, including the art of aeration of cream through whipping when making the Berry Madeleine Basket which consists of fresh berries, lemon Madeleine, lemon Chantilly, pesto jelly and berry coulis; the texture of cream was explored when making the Cream Catalane Passionement which is a dessert made with baked vanilla crème catalane caramelised with exotic sweet chutney and served with caramelised salted peanuts; cream by emulsification was demonstrated by making the Speculoos Chocolate Tart with poached pear, caramel sauce and almond flakes; and the different water and fat composition of cream in pastries was explained when making the Frozen Parfait with chocolate coffee magnum coated with hazelnut chocolate.

The Second Vitacare Health & Wellness Discovery Journey Series

Whenever I visit The Gardens Shopping Mall, I would drop by Vitacare to check out the latest health and wellness products ever since I attended the first Vitacare Health & Wellness Discovery Journey Series a few months ago. It is so much different from the other pharmacies where I could find unique products from the advice of the pharmacist there.

I was glad that I have joined the second Vitacare health & wellness discovery journey series and learnt more on one well-deserved self-pampering and beauty tips this time.
The second Vitacare health & wellness discovery journey series started with an in-depth session on essential oil by Florame. As a beauty junkie, I am quite familiar with essential oil. I like that essential oil has many healing benefits and special aromatherapy scent for different occasion. Florame produce certiied organic essential oils and cosmetics in Saint Remy De Provence, France. In fact, Florame was one of the first companies to develop organic cosmetics lines made from natural processes and raw materials, rigorously selected and certified by official labels.
Florame applies the strictest criteria when selecting the purest and most natural essential oils from around the world, their laboratory’s tests guarantee that are essential oils are:

- 100% pure: uncut with other essential oils
- 100% natural: not denatured by synthetic molecules
- 100% complete: not subject to any treatment that might eliminate molecules
- Organically Botanically and biochemically defines (EOBBD)
Certified by Ecocert

Next, we had learnt the secrets to natural soaps by Sensenique Natural. Sensenique Natural handmade soaps are made using natural extracts and ingredients (such as olive oil, palm oil, sunflower oil and coconut oil) with a traditional cold process method which helps retain and preserve the goodness of natural ingredients used in the soap. You might not know why traditional cold process method is used, right? Actually, the production starts from mixing all base oils with sodium hydroxide and pure essential oils. Then the soap need to 'cure' or dry from inside out for minimum 30-45 days before labelling and selling.

There is power in education. Women who possess knowledge have the ability and opportunity to make a difference in their own lives. Based on this belief, The L’Oreal Foundation launched Beauty For A Better Life worldwide, extending a helping hand to young, disadvantaged women in more than 20 countries from Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

In Malaysia, the very first Beauty For A Better Life programme kicked off in 2016, providing disadvantaged young Malaysian women with training and skills in cosmetology, particularly hairdressing. 10 women successfully-graduated from the programme last year, and three of them immediately secured a job at Centro Hair Salon in The Garden Mall, Kuala Lumpur after completing their training.

Supplements and Skincare with Cutting Edge Nutrition Science by USANA®

Everyone wants to achieve long term good health as well as look flawless, right? Hence, when I was invited to the launch of USANA® latest supplements and skincare line, I quickly RSVP myself to learn more from this US based nutritional company that is known for manufactures high-quality supplements, personal care and healthy products in its FDA-registered facility in Salt Lake City.
It was our first time visiting the beautiful USANA® Malaysia office at The Vertical Business Suite, Avenue 3, Bangsar South. There, we were honored to meet Dr. Rob Sinnott, USANA Chief Scientific Officer whom flew from US to KL for this grand launch event.
Dr. Rob Sinnott shared, “Your body has both a chemical and electrical system (the nervous system) and simply put, cell-signalling is the way your cells communicate with each other through chemical messengers within your body. InCelligence technology supports normal cellular communication by promoting healthy signals in our body and proactively activating healthy responses using a specific combination of nutrients. If we were all living under ideal conditions, the foods we eat will provide us with most of the nutrition and all the positive cell-signaling compounds we need. But there’s often a pretty big gap between the ideal condition and what our modern diet might be. So our goal is to fill in that gap with our supplements, making sure you’re getting the proper quantities of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, for example.”

“There are hundreds of things we can do with cell-signaling and we are just getting started. I’m so excited about the potential we have,” Sinnott added.
In fact, USANA® InCelligence® Technology is on the cutting-edge of nutritional science. As USANA scientists discovered how nutrients communicate with cells to initiate natural protection and renewal processes, they began re-evaluating their formulas and updating the products accordingly.

D’Danze Academy Presents Enchanted Forest 2017

Enchanted Forest: The Story

Imagine you’re an incredibly curious child.

Everything around you is a mystery – who painted the sky blue, where the rainbow ends, what it feels like to fly like a bird and to dive like a fish – and you absolutely have to find out the truth, to uncover the answers to your questions, or that nagging feeling inside just won’t let you sleep at night.
Now imagine that in your house, there is a mysterious chest. It looks so very much like the treasure chest in that swashbuckling pirate adventure storybook Momma reads to you some nights. The only difference is, while the pirates got to open their treasure chest and marvel at the sight of their newly acquired riches, you are not allowed even a peek into the chest.
Why? Nobody will tell you why.

Jamie was that exact child, in that exact situation. A bad combination indeed, for that nagging, burning little “why” was the very “how” that the forbidden chest was opened. Out came the Curses – Poverty, Sickness, Depression, Hatred, Pride, Desire, Indolence, Cowardice – bringing misery and destruction to all mankind.

In the wake of such a tragedy, Jamie was approached by a little pixie. It took a little comforting and coaxing, but eventually, the child got up, determined to make amends, and followed the pixie into the Enchanted Forest.

The Curses were out there, and there was no way to recapture them. Instead, all Jamie could do was seek out the five Jewels.
But… why?

Our favourite Japanese brand, KOSÉ has unravelled the miracles of Rice Power™ No. 11 as the beauty ingredient in its latest moisturising serum, ONE BY KOSÉ. As Japan’s first makers of beauty serums with more than 15 years of research, we were really looking forward to try out the ONE BY KOSÉ.
