Amid growing interest in Japan throughout the world, in collaboration with Cool Japan Fund, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings presents us ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur that has officially opened its door today, Oct 27 2016!

ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur provides us the unique and upscale shopping experience. Designed by Paul Noritaka Tange, president of TANGE ASSOCIATES, and Yasumichi Morita, president and representative director of GLAMOROUS co., ltd., ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur departing from the traditional form of a department store, the store design, is the first of its kind for an overseas store. There is a pavilion on each floor to make the entire floor resemble a Japanese circuit-style garden. 
It has deliver Japanese lifestyles and aesthetics to customers overseas, and customers would experience “real Japan” that will be of service to overseas customers who would like to incorporate Japanese history, culture, technology, diversity and even lifestyle designs into their daily lives.
Currently, the “trans-kyoto photographs by Mika NINAGAWA,” is displayed at 3F Cube_1. The photograph, a new one taken by Ninagawa for this promotion, will have a strong impact on customers from ASEAN countries. In conjunction with the store-wide Opening Special Promotion “trans-kyoto” Period from Thursday, October 27, to the end of November 2016.
For the opening special promotion, ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur will cover the ancient capital of Kyoto, which continues to carry on tradition and innovation, in a store-wide promotion titled “trans-kyoto.”The title represents Kyoto, which continually pursues innovation and change, by using the prefix “trans,” which has meanings such as “going beyond” or “altering.” While esteeming tradition, we, together with the people who form the next generation, will construct product collaborations and events through unique perspectives and editing capabilities and present them on each floor of the store.


All of the shops on the six floors of ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur will feature high-quality product lineups from Japan and its regions. There’s over 200 brands being released for the first time will be on display and for sale in this approx. 11,000 square meters store.
GF THE MUSEUM Experience the ultimate Japan
This floor expresses Japan’s rich diversity, including fashion, art and technology.

1F THE STUDIO Experience fashion live
This floor conveys fashion culture and arranges an information transmission space for fashion people from ASEAN countries.
2F THE ROOM Experience grateful lifestyle
This floor conveys beautiful, healthy Japanese lifestyles and ways of living through a lifestyle-shop presentation.
3F THE CUBE Experience an inspiring culture
On this floor, in the three zones of “feel,” “know,” and “create,” visitors can experience Japanese culture that exhilarates both the mind and the body.

4F THE TABLE Experience premium dining
To deliver the taste of washoku, this floor will bring together around six famous restaurants to serve foods such as general Japanese cuisine, sushi, yakitori, tonkatsu and yakiniku.
*The restaurant floor is scheduled to open in January 2017.

● LGF THE MARKET Experience seasonal flavors
This floor offers authentic Japanese flavors that convey the changing four seasons whose beauty is expressed in haiku, as well as new styles of food utilizing technology.

1) Video: Wonderful World of Sweets
This video introduces the charms of Japanese and Western sweets that highlight the sensibilities of the Japanese people and the skills of its technical experts, include scenes of actual production. It focuses on “Henri Charpentier” and “BEL AMER,” Western-style sweets brands from Japan, and leading Japanese traditional sweets brands Eitaro Sohonpo (nihonbashi eitaro) and “TORAYA.”

2) Video: Pop Culture
With Japan’s internationally recognized “kawaii culture” and “technology” as its themes, this video introduces the “Smart Doll Mirai Suenaga” produced by ambassador for Japanese pop culture Danny Choo and the “Orphe” IoT smart shoes created through crowdfunding, including an interview with Choo himself.

3) Video: ISETAN The Japan Store & A Living Treasure of Japan
Through an interview with Kazumi Murose, a Japanese lacquer  artist and national living treasure, this video introduces lacquerware produced by the artist himself, as well as the traditional culture of Japan.

I have no idea why I feel so proud that KL has been chose as the city for the second international outlet for Isetan The Japan Store. I'll be in KL next week and plan to drop by.
